Podcast: "Wohin damit?" Episode 11
How do you build a space in the mind, and the heart? CAMPO Trip London (Part 1)
2024 traveled to London with a delegation from the SKKG and with the support of The Liminal Space. The diverse group visited institutions, projects and collections. And, above all, listened to the people involved. For example, the artist Verity-Jane Keefe, who is working with a design team to bring a neighborhood club back to life: The Moorings Sociable Club in Thamesmead.
Museums increasingly want to become places not only for art and objects, but also for people. A place for being together, for discussion. How do you create this so-called third place? With this question in mind, Alain and his colleagues spent a day in a residential area in the south-east of the English capital
They take this knowledge home to CAMPO in Oberwinterthur: A place for people must be created with people and take into account the specific circumstances on site. In the example of the Moorings Sociable Club, this includes: the relationship with animals, the design of toilets, non-patronizing colors, playful routing, the removal of prohibition signs, flight paths and wood chips from an old bar in the floor. Curious? Listen in and find out exactly what it's all about.
