Art and Construction
Building art
The "Art and Construction" projects that SKKG and Terresta are realizing together are an important step towards the goal of effectively linking the cultural foundation and the real estate portfolio.
To the Terresta
Terresta preserves, develops and communicates building culture, the SKKG maintains the material cultural heritage in its own collection and is a partner for the Swiss museum landscape. Art is to be given a prominent place in new buildings and major renovations in the portfolio. "The aim is to give art visibility in the real estate portfolio, promote artists and allow various users to participate in cultural values in line with the foundation's purpose" - this resolution was passed by the Board of Trustees in 2020.
The foundation's art and building projects aim to bring the intertwining of real estate and culture to life for tenants and the public. To this end, a pilot phase with five prototype projects was launched in December 2022, accompanied by Simone Müller. These differ in terms of the size and type of construction project, the construction sum, the budget, the type of procedure, the composition of the jury and the artistic implementation. Three of the five projects are currently in full swing, two of which ("Müselet" and "Open House") have already been completed and are enriching living spaces in Winterthur-Seen and in Wittenbach near St. Gallen.
